About the artist.
A native of Los Angeles, Gabriela Martinez is an Artist Printmaker, Art Educator and Independent Curator.
She earned an MFA in Printmaking from California State University-Long Beach and a B.A. in Painting with a Minor in Gender Studies from La Sierra University in Riverside, CA.
An educator for over 13 years and a Smithsonian Latino Museum Studies Fellow, she currently serves as Associate Vice President of Education at the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach, CA.
Working from the stories of her family history, she constructs vignettes that speak of migration, inter-cultural partnerships, and a bilingual/tri-cultural upbringing.
Her prints have been exhibited at the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in China, Hong-Ik University in South Korea, La Passarelle Institute in Normandy, France; the CSU Fullerton Grand Central Art Center in Santa Ana as well as in galleries and boutiques throughout the greater Los Angeles area and in San Francisco.
